Description
Return supplied girth-calibrated mass estimate.
Animal observations distinguish recorded events, classification tokens, count expectations and measurement residuals. A normalized score or supplied activity transition is not a diagnosis or validated behavioral interpretation. Unknown records and incomplete observation windows must remain explicit.
Return supplied girth-calibrated mass estimate.
When to use this tool
Use Animal Weight Girth Calibration Term when checking the stated animal observation, score, count or time convention.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter girth, bodyLength, coefficient, exponent, intercept. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read estimatedMass. Use the output convention below.
Return supplied girth-calibrated mass estimate. Require girth > 0, nonnegative bodyLength/coefficient/intercept and exponent > 0; estimatedMass = intercept+coefficient*girth^exponent*bodyLength.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| girth | Girth | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| bodyLength | Body Length | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| coefficient | Caller-calibrated coefficient with units matching girth^exponent*bodyLength and desired mass; no universal coefficient is inserted. | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| exponent | Exponent | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| intercept | Intercept | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| estimatedMass | Estimated Mass | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Coefficient units and applicability are supplied; no species-specific calibration, actual mass, welfare or feeding requirement is established.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Inspect the original animal and observation records, use an appropriate statistical model and consult qualified veterinary/husbandry professionals for health or welfare decisions.
