Herd Roster Unknown Birth Token Tool

Retain unknown birth metadata separately from a supplied age calculation.

Description

Return herd age only when birth token is not marked unknown.

Animal observations distinguish recorded events, classification tokens, count expectations and measurement residuals. A normalized score or supplied activity transition is not a diagnosis or validated behavioral interpretation. Unknown records and incomplete observation windows must remain explicit.

Return herd age only when birth token is not marked unknown.

When to use this tool

Use Herd Roster Unknown Birth Token when checking the stated animal observation, score, count or time convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter birthToken, unknownTokens, observationDay, birthDay. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read birthKnown, ageDays. Inspect birthKnown before interpreting the associated values.

Return herd age only when birth token is not marked unknown. Unknown membership controls birthKnown; require observationDay >= birthDay when known, ageDays = difference or zero placeholder.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • The numeric birth day is not derived from the token; birth identity, record truth and clinical age interpretation are not verified.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Inspect the original animal and observation records, use an appropriate statistical model and consult qualified veterinary/husbandry professionals for health or welfare decisions.
