Animal Cohort Count Delta Tool

Calculate animal cohort count delta from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Description

Return valid cohort final count and signed change.

Animal observations distinguish recorded events, classification tokens, count expectations and measurement residuals. A normalized score or supplied activity transition is not a diagnosis or validated behavioral interpretation. Unknown records and incomplete observation windows must remain explicit.

Return valid cohort final count and signed change.

When to use this tool

Use Animal Cohort Count Delta when checking the stated animal observation, score, count or time convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter initial, entries, exits. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read finalCount, delta. Use the output convention below.

Return valid cohort final count and signed change. Require nonnegative whole initial/entries/exits and nonnegative exact final balance; finalCount = initial+entries-exits, delta = entries-exits, converted from exact intermediates to numeric outputs.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Animal identities, actual transfer records, mortality and welfare are not verified.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Inspect the original animal and observation records, use an appropriate statistical model and consult qualified veterinary/husbandry professionals for health or welfare decisions.
