Herd Calving Interval Day Gap Tool

Calculate herd calving interval day gap from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Loading tool…

Description

Return ordered calving-date interval and target gap.

Animal observations distinguish recorded events, classification tokens, count expectations and measurement residuals. A normalized score or supplied activity transition is not a diagnosis or validated behavioral interpretation. Unknown records and incomplete observation windows must remain explicit.

Return ordered calving-date interval and target gap.

When to use this tool

Use Herd Calving Interval Day Gap when checking the stated animal observation, score, count or time convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter firstCalving, nextCalving, targetDays. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read intervalDays, targetGapDays. Use the output convention below.

Return ordered calving-date interval and target gap. Require real date-only inputs with nextCalving >= first and nonnegative whole targetDays; compute UTC days, subtract target.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • The target is supplied rather than a reproductive-management recommendation; animal health, event identity and appropriate breeding timing are not assessed.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Inspect the original animal and observation records, use an appropriate statistical model and consult qualified veterinary/husbandry professionals for health or welfare decisions.
