Skeletal Landmark Pair Length

Measure Euclidean distance between two explicitly supplied compatible three-dimensional skeletal landmarks.

Description

Measure supplied three-dimensional landmark separation.

Anatomical measurements depend on coordinate frame, plane, axis sign, terminology source and scale. Reordering length/width/depth does not identify anatomical axes, and a landmark separation requires corresponding calibrated points. Source-qualified names preserve wording without verifying a structure or clinical interpretation.

Measure supplied three-dimensional landmark separation.

When to use this tool

Use Skeletal Landmark Pair Length when you already have firstPoint, secondPoint and need to measure supplied three-dimensional landmark separation.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter firstPoint, secondPoint. Follow any array-alignment requirements below. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read distance. Use the output convention below.

Require both points have exactly three finite coordinates; return hypot of second-first component differences.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
firstPointFirst PointRequired. Array of finite number; maximum items 256.
secondPointSecond PointRequired. Array of finite number; maximum items 256.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Coordinates need matching frame, calibration and units. No landmark, anatomy, subject identity, clinical finding or acceptable distance is identified.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Inspect the original specimen, image, coordinate definitions and terminology source. Use the complete anatomical or clinical assessment when local distances, labels or axis mappings cannot answer the question.
