Anatomical Specimen Scale Factor

Compare explicit compatible anatomical model and specimen lengths without assuming isotropic anatomical similarity.

Description

Calculate reciprocal supplied model/specimen length factors.

Anatomical measurements depend on coordinate frame, plane, axis sign, terminology source and scale. Reordering length/width/depth does not identify anatomical axes, and a landmark separation requires corresponding calibrated points. Source-qualified names preserve wording without verifying a structure or clinical interpretation.

Calculate reciprocal supplied model/specimen length factors.

When to use this tool

Use Anatomical Specimen Scale Factor when you already have modelLength, specimenLength and need to calculate reciprocal supplied model/specimen length factors.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter modelLength, specimenLength. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read modelPerSpecimen, specimenPerModel. Use the output convention below.

Require both lengths>0; return model/specimen and specimen/model.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
modelLengthModel LengthRequired. Finite number; strictly above 0.
specimenLengthSpecimen LengthRequired. Finite number; strictly above 0.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
modelPerSpecimenmodelLength/specimenLength; linear factor, reciprocal to specimenPerModel.Required. Finite number.
specimenPerModelSpecimen Per ModelRequired. Finite number.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Lengths need matching unit and corresponding axes. This is linear scale, not area/volume scaling, anatomical identification or a validated specimen/model comparison.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Inspect the original specimen, image, coordinate definitions and terminology source. Use the complete anatomical or clinical assessment when local distances, labels or axis mappings cannot answer the question.
