Description
Format a supplied quarter-quarter land-description label.
American archival and publication records preserve source editions, numbering, place/date wording and documentary roles. A quarter-quarter locator describes a supplied hierarchy without resolving a parcel, and an oral-history purpose record does not verify release rights. Historical context remains part of the original source.
Format a supplied quarter-quarter land-description label.
When to use this tool
Use American Land Survey Quarter Quarter Label when you already have sectionReference, parentQuarter, childQuarter and need to format a supplied quarter-quarter land-description label.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter sectionReference, parentQuarter, childQuarter. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read label. Use the output convention below.
Require sectionReference nonempty and each quarter NE/NW/SE/SW; display child¼ of parent¼; sectionReference.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| sectionReference | Section Reference | Required. Text; minimum UTF-16 length 1; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
| parentQuarter | Parent Quarter | Required. Text; one of "NE", "NW", "SE", "SW"; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
| childQuarter | Child Quarter | Required. Text; one of "NE", "NW", "SE", "SW"; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| label | Child quarter within parent quarter, followed by the supplied section reference; not a resolved parcel. | Required. Text; maximum UTF-16 length 8192. |
{
"input": {
"sectionReference": "Section 17",
"parentQuarter": "NW",
"childQuarter": "SE"
},
"output": {
"label": "SE¼ of NW¼; Section 17"
}
} Limitations and assumptions
- Order is child within parent, not the reverse. No section, survey, parcel boundary, acreage, land title or legal description is resolved or validated.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Consult original archives, surveys, publications and permission records. Verify editions, chronology and source meanings before using local reference tokens for historical, bibliographic or legal interpretation.
