Description

Allocate cost*sharedFraction to crops and trees in proportion to their supplied years.

Agroforestry cost and benefit terms depend on labor exposure, shared allocations, grants and discount periods. Person-hours differ from elapsed crew-hours, and a single discounted benefit differs from a complete investment appraisal. Prices, allocations and discount rates must be supplied on compatible bases.

Allocate cost*sharedFraction to crops and trees in proportion to their supplied years.

When to use this tool

Use Timber Crop Rotation Year Cost Proration when checking the stated tree/crop cost, labor or discounted-benefit contribution.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter cost, cropYears, treeYears, sharedFraction. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read cropAllocated, treeAllocated. Use the output convention below.

Require nonnegative cost and year quantities with positive combined years, plus sharedFraction in [0,1]. Allocate cost*sharedFraction to crops and trees in proportion to their supplied years.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Only the shared cost fraction is allocated; this is not a discounted cash-flow analysis or a contractual entitlement.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Build a complete budget with verified costs, timing, uncertainty and applicable agreements for actual investment, labor or grant decisions.
