Description
Compare supplied pollard-year difference with a stated rotation interval.
Agroforestry records distinguish position counts, nominal clearances, dry-mass allocation, source labels and year-index conventions. A stated setback threshold is not automatically an applicable legal requirement, and a rotation-year margin does not establish a suitable cutting interval. Local ratios preserve supplied assumptions.
Compare supplied pollard-year difference with a stated rotation interval.
When to use this tool
Use Pollard Rotation Year Offset when you already have referenceYear, recordedYear, suppliedRotationYears and need to compare supplied pollard-year difference with a stated rotation interval.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter referenceYear, recordedYear, suppliedRotationYears. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read elapsedYears, rotationMarginYears. Use the output convention below.
Require signed safe whole years and nonnegative safe suppliedRotationYears; subtract exactly with BigInt for elapsed and elapsed-rotation, exporting safe numeric outputs.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| referenceYear | Reference Year | Required. Safe integer. |
| recordedYear | Recorded Year | Required. Safe integer. |
| suppliedRotationYears | Supplied Rotation Years | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| elapsedYears | Elapsed Years | Required. Safe integer. |
| rotationMarginYears | Exact recordedYear-referenceYear-suppliedRotationYears; no appropriate interval is selected. | Required. Safe integer. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Negative elapsed years and margins are retained. No tree, actual work, ecological condition or suitable rotation is verified or recommended.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Review original tree, site, measurement, cost and management records. Use complete ecological, arboricultural, veterinary and applicable legal assessment when local counts or margins cannot establish an appropriate decision.
