Tree Row Missing Tree Count

Compare explicit planned and occupied tree-row counts without detecting or attributing missing trees.

Description

Compare supplied planned and occupied tree positions.

Agroforestry records distinguish position counts, nominal clearances, dry-mass allocation, source labels and year-index conventions. A stated setback threshold is not automatically an applicable legal requirement, and a rotation-year margin does not establish a suitable cutting interval. Local ratios preserve supplied assumptions.

Compare supplied planned and occupied tree positions.

When to use this tool

Use Tree Row Missing Tree Count when you already have plannedPositions, occupiedPositions and need to compare supplied planned and occupied tree positions.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter plannedPositions, occupiedPositions. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read missingPositions, surplusOccupancy. Use the output convention below.

Require nonnegative safe whole counts; missing=max(0,planned-occupied), surplus=max(0,occupied-planned).1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Surplus is retained separately instead of rejecting excess occupancy. No actual trees, mortality, identity or suitable planting arrangement is verified.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Review original tree, site, measurement, cost and management records. Use complete ecological, arboricultural, veterinary and applicable legal assessment when local counts or margins cannot establish an appropriate decision.
