Description
Calculate supplied open-flower share of observations.
Agroecological metrics depend on sampling units, nonoverlapping coverage categories, mass bases and area denominators. Yield per whole plot differs from yield per allocated crop area, and literal crop-code richness per area is not rarefied diversity. Local count expansion assumes comparable density beyond the sampled segment.
Calculate supplied open-flower share of observations.
When to use this tool
Use Field Margin Open Flower Observation Share when you already have openFlowers, observedFlowers and need to calculate supplied open-flower share of observations.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter openFlowers, observedFlowers. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read fraction, remainder. Use the output convention below.
Require observedFlowers>0 and openFlowers in [0,observed]; return open/observed and observed-open.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| openFlowers | Open Flowers | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| observedFlowers | Positive finite supplied quantity; fractional values are accepted rather than whole-count validated. | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| fraction | Fraction | Required. Finite number. |
| remainder | Remainder | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Numeric quantities can be fractional. No observation, count integrity, flowering quality, pollinator benefit or suitable practice is established.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use the complete survey, experiment and ecological analysis. Check detection, spatial variation, sampling representativeness and resource boundaries before interpreting local fractions or supplied labels as ecological benefits or suitable practices.
