Soil Test Extractant Dry Mass Factor Tool

Calculate soil test extractant dry mass factor from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Loading tool…

Description

Return concentration*extractVolume/(wetSample*(1-moisture)).

Soil and plant analytical results depend on sample mass, extraction volume, dilution, blanks and dry-matter basis. Concentration in an extract is distinct from analyte mass per soil mass or an inventory per field area. A unit conversion does not convert between analytical methods or establish nutrient availability.

Return concentration*extractVolume/(wetSample*(1-moisture)).

When to use this tool

Use Soil Test Extractant Dry Mass Factor when checking the stated benign analytical concentration, inventory or calibration basis.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter concentration, extractVolume, wetSample, moisture. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read massPerDryMass. Use the output convention below.

Require positive wet sample mass, nonnegative extract volume and wet-basis moisture in [0,1). Return concentration*extractVolume/(wetSample*(1-moisture)).1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Concentration may be signed; use compatible analyte mass/volume and dry-sample mass units. No analytical recovery or agronomic interpretation is inferred.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use verified laboratory methods, compatible units and qualified laboratory/agronomic assessment for actual analytical interpretation, chemical handling or field management.
