Fertilizer Nutrient Basis Factor Tool

Apply supplied nutrient-label/oxide factors without choosing composition, fertilizer rates or application guidance.

Description

Return mass*fraction, multiplying by the factor only when reportElement=true for reportedEquivalent.

Nutrient labels can report elements, oxide equivalents or fractions on wet, dry or anhydrous material bases. Stoichiometric conversion requires a verified chemical identity and the correct factor direction. A supplied source label and numerical factor record assumptions rather than proving the underlying chemical definition.

Return mass*fraction, multiplying by the factor only when reportElement=true for reportedEquivalent.

When to use this tool

Use Fertilizer Nutrient Basis Factor when checking the stated nutrient, moisture or elemental-equivalent convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter reportedMass, suppliedNutrientFraction, suppliedOxideToElementFactor, reportElement. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read nutrientMass, reportedEquivalent. Use the output convention below.

Require nonnegative reported mass, nutrient fraction in [0,1] and positive oxide-to-element factor. Return mass*fraction, multiplying by the factor only when reportElement=true for reportedEquivalent.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Chemical identity, conversion direction and label basis are supplied; no default elemental/oxide conversion is selected.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Check the original label, analytical method and authoritative chemical definition before applying a conversion or comparing nutrient quantities.
