Agriculture Harvest Moisture Adjustment

Account harvested lots with differing wet-basis moisture and explicitly retained dry matter before reporting-basis mass; unlike standalone moisture conversion, actual graded/handling dry-matter loss is separately conserved.

Description

Harvest moisture adjustment conserves dry matter while separating actual dry-material loss.

Harvest moisture adjustment conserves dry matter while separating actual dry-material loss. Expressing the retained inventory at reporting moisture avoids confusing drying loss with discarded product.1

Account harvested lots with differing wet-basis moisture and explicitly retained dry matter before reporting-basis mass; unlike standalone moisture conversion, actual graded/handling dry-matter loss is separately conserved.

When to use Agriculture Harvest Moisture Adjustment

Use this tool to account harvested lots with differing wet-basis moisture and explicitly retained dry matter before reporting-basis mass; unlike standalone moisture conversion, actual graded/handling dry-matter loss is separately conserved.

Prepare the field, crop, soil or material measurements for the intended period. Confirm units, dry/wet bases and supplied parameters; keep paired observations aligned.

How to use Agriculture Harvest Moisture Adjustment and understand its results

  1. Prepare the field, crop, soil or material measurements for the intended period. Confirm units, dry/wet bases and supplied parameters; keep paired observations aligned.
  2. Enter harvestLotWetMassesKg, harvestLotMoistureFractions, retainedDryMatterFractions, reportingMoistureFraction using the field table and calculation rules, then run the tool.
  3. Read totalOriginalDryMatterKg, totalRetainedDryMatterKg, reportingBasisHarvestMassKg, dryMatterLossKg. The explanation below defines the units, signs, ordering and any flags or placeholder values.
  4. If the tool reports an input issue, correct the values and run it again. Apply the stated assumptions when interpreting a successfully returned result.

Pair nonnegative wet lot kg with moisture fractions in [0,1) and retained dry-matter fractions in [0,1]. Supply reporting moisture below one. Return original and retained dry kg, their loss and reporting-basis mass.

Paired lists must be nonempty and have equal lengths.

originalDry_i = wetKg_i(1−moisture_i); reportKg = Σ(originalDry_i retainedFraction_i)/(1−reportMoisture)

Units, indexing, boundary conditions and exceptional cases are defined in the calculation rules above.

Limitations and assumptions

Moisture values are wet-basis fractions. Retained fractions are supplied grade/handling assumptions, and the calculation does not model drying kinetics or product quality.

Numeric inputs must be finite. Follow the calculation-specific rules for overflow, underflow and exceptional cases. Numeric lists are limited to 100,000 entries; the rules above may require smaller limits. Missing required fields, extra fields, wrong value types and violations of the calculation rules are input errors.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use Agriculture Thousand Seed Weight: Pool unequal counted seed subsamples and conserve dry matter to a caller reporting moisture basis; unlike a fixed unit weight, differing sample counts/moisture are explicit. For a complementary task, use Agriculture Storage Loss Percentage: Infer storage dry-matter retention from an explicitly assumed conserved ash tracer, separating moisture-driven wet-mass ratio; ash loss/addition violates the model and apparent negative loss is retained as diagnostic.
