Agriculture Fertilizer Spreader Calibration
Calibrate observed spreader deposition from catcher masses/areas/passes and represented lateral widths; not a target nutrient rate, uniformity coefficient or a broadcast recommendation.
Description
Spreader catch trays measure local deposited mass rather than a target nutrient dose.
Spreader catch trays measure local deposited mass rather than a target nutrient dose. Area and pass normalization turn those observations into application rates, and lateral widths weight the swath summary.1
Calibrate observed spreader deposition from catcher masses/areas/passes and represented lateral widths; not a target nutrient rate, uniformity coefficient or a broadcast recommendation.
When to use Agriculture Fertilizer Spreader Calibration
Use this tool to calibrate observed spreader deposition from catcher masses/areas/passes and represented lateral widths; not a target nutrient rate, uniformity coefficient or a broadcast recommendation.
Prepare the field, crop, soil or material measurements for the intended period. Confirm units, dry/wet bases and supplied parameters; keep paired observations aligned.
How to use Agriculture Fertilizer Spreader Calibration and understand its results
- Prepare the field, crop, soil or material measurements for the intended period. Confirm units, dry/wet bases and supplied parameters; keep paired observations aligned.
- Enter trayCatchMassesGrams, trayOpeningAreasM2, representedSwathWidthsM, numberOfEquivalentPasses using the field table and calculation rules, then run the tool.
- Read localObservedApplicationKgPerHa, swathWeightedApplicationKgPerHa. The explanation below defines the units, signs, ordering and any flags or placeholder values.
- If the tool reports an input issue, correct the values and run it again. Apply the stated assumptions when interpreting a successfully returned result.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type; see rules below | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| trayCatchMassesGrams | Tray catch masses grams | list of number | Required |
| trayOpeningAreasM2 | Tray opening areas m2 | list of number | Required |
| representedSwathWidthsM | Represented swath widths m | list of number | Required |
| numberOfEquivalentPasses | Number of equivalent passes | integer | Required |
Pair nonnegative tray grams with positive opening m² and represented swath m. Supply a positive integer equivalent-pass count. Return local kg/ha and the swath-width-weighted mean; zero catches are valid.
Paired lists must be nonempty and have equal lengths.
localKg/ha = 10 caughtGrams/(openingM² × passes); swathMean = Σ(localRate × representedWidth)/Σwidth Units, indexing, boundary conditions and exceptional cases are defined in the calculation rules above.
| Output field | Meaning | Value type |
|---|---|---|
| localObservedApplicationKgPerHa | Local observed application kg per ha | list of number |
| swathWeightedApplicationKgPerHa | Swath weighted application kg per ha | number |

} Limitations and assumptions
Measurements must represent matching passes and disjoint swath exposure. The tool does not compute a uniformity coefficient, choose a nutrient target or recommend broadcasting.
Numeric inputs must be finite. Follow the calculation-specific rules for overflow, underflow and exceptional cases. Numeric lists are limited to 100,000 entries; the rules above may require smaller limits. Missing required fields, extra fields, wrong value types and violations of the calculation rules are input errors.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use Agriculture Spray Calibration Nozzle Flow: Compare actual nozzle catch flow to caller-target liquid application, speed and nozzle spacing, retaining signed deviation; target is supplied and no pesticide dose, label compliance, drift or operator safety is inferred. For a complementary task, use Agriculture Sprinkler Precipitation Rate: Convert measured catch-can volumes/openings to local sprinkler precipitation rates and weight by represented ground area; no ideal spacing/discharge uniformity assumption.
