Description
Divide adopted by observed, adding unobserved to the denominator only when includeUnobserved.
Extension-service records track resources, attendance, feedback and permission assertions. Distinct people and repeated records have different denominators, and a complete record does not prove valid consent or a high-quality service. Names such as verified describe caller-supplied evidence flags.
Divide adopted by observed, adding unobserved to the denominator only when includeUnobserved.
When to use this tool
Use Extension Adoption Observed Denominator when checking the stated extension-service record, participation or permission convention.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter adopted, observed, unobserved, includeUnobserved. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read denominator, share. Use the output convention below.
Require whole observed>=1, adopted<=observed and unobserved>=0. Divide adopted by observed, adding unobserved to the denominator only when includeUnobserved.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| adopted | Adopted | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| observed | Observed | Required. Safe integer; minimum 1. |
| unobserved | Unobserved | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| includeUnobserved | True includes unobserved count in denominator; no observation is imputed for those people. | Required. Boolean. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| denominator | Denominator | Required. Safe integer. |
| share | Dimensionless share using the operation-specific denominator stated above; not a percentage number. | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Including unobserved people is a reporting convention, not evidence they did not adopt; no population adoption estimate is fitted.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Review original service and participant records and the applicable permission/organizational rules for actual use or reporting decisions.
