Description
Revenue per unit=rate/capacity; margin subtracts costPerUnit.
Agribusiness budgets distinguish capacity, elapsed time, person-nights, physical losses, usable pack contents and moisture-normalized mass. A nominal unit cost differs from total profitability, and a cold-storage fee says nothing about actual preservation conditions. The reporting basis must match the supplied quantities.
Revenue per unit=rate/capacity; margin subtracts costPerUnit.
When to use this tool
Use Hire Rate Capacity Unit Margin when checking the stated business quantity, resource, unit-cost or material-basis convention.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter ratePerHour, capacityPerHour, costPerUnit. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read revenuePerUnit, marginPerUnit. Use the output convention below.
Require capacityPerHour>0 and nonnegative hourly rate/cost per unit. Revenue per unit=rate/capacity; margin subtracts costPerUnit.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| ratePerHour | Rate Per Hour | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| capacityPerHour | Capacity Per Hour | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| costPerUnit | Cost Per Unit | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| revenuePerUnit | Revenue Per Unit | Required. Finite number. |
| marginPerUnit | Margin Per Unit | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Capacity is a supplied operational assumption, not measured utilization; this is a unit contribution rather than complete profitability.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use verified operating and contract records and a complete suitable budget or material assessment for actual financial, logistical or quality decisions.
