Crop Purchase Moisture Shrink Term Tool

Conserve dry matter to a supplied reference moisture, then deduct a separate explicit handling-loss fraction.

Description

Conserve dry matter for moisture-adjusted weight, then multiply by 1-handlingLoss; shrink=original-sale weight.

Agribusiness budgets distinguish capacity, elapsed time, person-nights, physical losses, usable pack contents and moisture-normalized mass. A nominal unit cost differs from total profitability, and a cold-storage fee says nothing about actual preservation conditions. The reporting basis must match the supplied quantities.

Conserve dry matter for moisture-adjusted weight, then multiply by 1-handlingLoss; shrink=original-sale weight.

When to use this tool

Use Crop Purchase Moisture Shrink Term when checking the stated business quantity, resource, unit-cost or material-basis convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter wetWeight, measuredMoisture, targetMoisture, handlingLossFraction. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read moistureAdjustedWeight, saleWeight, shrink. Use the output convention below.

Require nonnegative wet mass, measured/target wet-basis moisture in [0,1) and handling loss in [0,1]. Conserve dry matter for moisture-adjusted weight, then multiply by 1-handlingLoss; shrink=original-sale weight.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Handling loss is applied after moisture normalization; negative shrink is possible when target moisture raises equivalent mass.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use verified operating and contract records and a complete suitable budget or material assessment for actual financial, logistical or quality decisions.
