Description
Divide nonnegative cpm by 1000 times clickThroughRateFraction, which must be positive and at most one, for impliedCpc.
Advertising cost metrics use different bases: impressions, clicks, sales, and elapsed campaign time. A conversion between them is meaningful only when the population, charging basis, and currency match.
Divide nonnegative cpm by 1000 times clickThroughRateFraction, which must be positive and at most one, for impliedCpc.
When to use this tool
Use Media Buy Cpm Cpc Crosswalk when you need one explicit campaign-cost component from supplied rates and counts.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter cpm, clickThroughRateFraction. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read impliedCpc. Use the output convention below.
Divide nonnegative cpm by 1000 times clickThroughRateFraction, which must be positive and at most one, for impliedCpc.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| cpm | Currency cost per 1000 impressions. | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| clickThroughRateFraction | Clicks divided by impressions, in (0, 1]; 0.02 means 2%. | Required. Finite number; maximum 1; strictly above 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| impliedCpc | Implied currency cost per click under the supplied CPM and CTR. | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- CPM is currency per thousand impressions and CTR is a fraction, not a percent; this assumes the same impression population and does not predict actual billing or clicks.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Reconcile the calculation with actual delivery records, billing terms, and the complete campaign budget.
