Work Placement Break Time Exclusion Tool

Explicit break-union accounting; overlappingBreak is deducted twice only when both break categories are excluded.

Loading tool…

Description

Always subtract unpaidBreak; subtract supervisedBreak-overlap only when excludeSupervised.

Adult-learning budgets allocate supplied time, observations, support hours and optional participation. Elapsed session time differs from assessor person-time or serial per-learner time. A completeness count or feasible time balance does not itself assess competence, accessibility or learning quality.

Always subtract unpaidBreak; subtract supervisedBreak-overlap only when excludeSupervised.

When to use this tool

Use Work Placement Break Time Exclusion when checking the stated adult-learning time, participation, resource or support-allocation convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter scheduled, unpaidBreak, overlappingBreak, supervisedBreak, excludeSupervised. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read counted. Use the output convention below.

Require nonnegative scheduled and break durations, valid overlap and break union within scheduled. Always subtract unpaidBreak; subtract supervisedBreak-overlap only when excludeSupervised.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Break treatment is a caller policy, not a determination of paid work, supervised learning or legal credit entitlement.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Review actual learner needs, activity plans and verified records with the responsible educational team for substantive scheduling and assessment decisions.
