Learner Support Hour Allocation Term Tool

Calculate learner support hour allocation term from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Description

Allocate totalHours*selectedWeight/sumWeights and return the selected normalized weight.

Adult-learning budgets allocate supplied time, observations, support hours and optional participation. Elapsed session time differs from assessor person-time or serial per-learner time. A completeness count or feasible time balance does not itself assess competence, accessibility or learning quality.

Allocate totalHours*selectedWeight/sumWeights and return the selected normalized weight.

When to use this tool

Use Learner Support Hour Allocation Term when checking the stated adult-learning time, participation, resource or support-allocation convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter totalHours, weights, learner. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read allocatedHours, weightShare. Use the output convention below.

Require nonnegative total hours and weights with at least one positive weight, plus an in-range whole learner index. Allocate totalHours*selectedWeight/sumWeights and return the selected normalized weight.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Weights need not sum to one; the allocation does not establish appropriate accommodations, need or actual delivered support.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Review actual learner needs, activity plans and verified records with the responsible educational team for substantive scheduling and assessment decisions.
