Description
Remote credit=min(cap, remoteHours*weight); equivalent hours add contactHours.
Education credit bookkeeping depends on conversion factors, overlap, prior recognition, caps and prerequisite assertions. Contact hours and recognized credits are different quantities; a numerical equivalence or waiver flag does not establish accreditation or authority to award a qualification.
Remote credit=min(cap, remoteHours*weight); equivalent hours add contactHours.
When to use this tool
Use Attendance Equivalent Distance Learning Hour when checking the stated credit, overlap, rounding or prerequisite convention.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter contactHours, remoteHours, remoteWeight, maxRemoteCredit. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read remoteCredit, equivalentHours. Use the output convention below.
Require nonnegative contact/remote hours, remote weight and cap. Remote credit=min(cap, remoteHours*weight); equivalent hours add contactHours.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| contactHours | Contact Hours | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| remoteHours | Remote Hours | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| remoteWeight | Nonnegative equivalent-credit multiplier; may exceed one. | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| maxRemoteCredit | Max Remote Credit | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| remoteCredit | Remote Credit | Required. Finite number. |
| equivalentHours | Equivalent Hours | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Weight may exceed one; this is a supplied equivalence rule rather than actual contact time or accreditation approval.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Consult the institution’s current recognition and qualification rules and verified completion/evidence records for actual credit decisions.
