Study Sham Contact Time Credit Tool

Research contact-time allocation under caller-supplied classifications, without assuming sham inertness or efficacy.

Description

Credit sham-specific time and optionally shared time; nonSham is total minus credited sham.

Acupuncture research records distinguish reporting completeness, source editions, treatment-contact labels, outcome direction and missing-outcome scenarios. These tools organize benign study or public-source metadata; they do not provide treatment instructions, locate intervention sites or determine safety or efficacy. Reporting support and clinical evidence are different questions.

Credit sham-specific time and optionally shared time; nonSham is total minus credited sham.

When to use this tool

Use Study Sham Contact Time Credit when checking the stated benign study-record, public-source or reporting convention.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter totalContact, shamSpecific, sharedContact, creditShared. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read creditedSham, nonSham. Use the output convention below.

Require nonnegative total, sham-specific and shared contact with specific+shared<=total. Credit sham-specific time and optionally shared time; nonSham is total minus credited sham.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Shared-time attribution is a caller convention; no intervention equivalence, blinding quality or clinical effect is inferred.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use the original protocol, registry, reports and appropriate complete research methods; consult qualified health professionals for actual care or clinical interpretation.
