Ordinance Hours Screen
Check a same-day activity interval against caller-supplied ordinance hours, with an explicit variance override; it embeds no jurisdictional schedule.
Description
Permitted activity hours define a time window.
Permitted activity hours define a time window. This screen checks supplied same-day times with a stated variance override.1
Check a same-day activity interval against caller-supplied ordinance hours, with an explicit variance override; it embeds no jurisdictional schedule.
When to use Ordinance Hours Screen
Use this tool to check a same-day activity interval against caller-supplied ordinance hours, with an explicit variance override; it embeds no jurisdictional schedule.
Choose a supported reference topic, run an input-free reference with an empty object, or prepare the measured values and caller-supplied test records requested. Keep acoustic metrics, frequency, units and test conditions consistent.
How to use Ordinance Hours Screen and understand its results
- Choose a supported reference topic, run an input-free reference with an empty object, or prepare the measured values and caller-supplied test records requested. Keep acoustic metrics, frequency, units and test conditions consistent.
- Enter activityDurationMinutes, activityStartMinute, allowedEndMinute, allowedStartMinute, varianceGranted using the field table and calculation rules, then run the tool.
- Read activityEndMinute, compliantWithSuppliedHours, usedVariance. The explanation below defines the units, signs, ordering and any flags or placeholder values.
- If the tool reports an input issue, correct the values and run it again. Apply the stated assumptions when interpreting a successfully returned result.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type; see rules below | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| activityDurationMinutes | Activity duration (min) | integer; minimum: 0; maximum: 1440 | Required |
| activityStartMinute | Activity start minute | integer; minimum: 0; maximum: 1439 | Required |
| allowedEndMinute | Allowed end minute | integer; minimum: 0; maximum: 1440 | Required |
| allowedStartMinute | Allowed start minute | integer; minimum: 0; maximum: 1439 | Required |
| varianceGranted | Variance granted | boolean | Required |
Enter integer minute values with start<1440, end bounds≤1440, ordered allowed window and activity end≤1440. Boundaries are inclusive. Return activity end, hours flag and usedVariance only when outside but granted.
end=start+duration; compliant=withinWindow OR variance Units, indexing, boundary conditions and exceptional cases are defined in the calculation rules above.
| Output field | Meaning | Value type |
|---|---|---|
| activityEndMinute | Activity end minute | integer; minimum: 0; maximum: 1440 |
| compliantWithSuppliedHours | Compliant with supplied hours | boolean |
| usedVariance | Used variance | boolean |

} Limitations and assumptions
No jurisdictional schedule or variance validity is checked. Cross-midnight intervals fail even if variance is true; zero duration is allowed.
Numeric inputs, where present, must be finite. Follow the calculation-specific rules for overflow, underflow and exceptional cases. Missing required fields, extra fields, wrong value types and violations of the calculation rules are input errors. A successfully returned false flag is an evaluated outcome; its meaning is explained above.

Use WHO Night-Noise Reference: Return the WHO Europe night-noise guideline and interim-target context. For a complementary task, use Practice-Room Noise Target Screen: Compare a measured room-criterion value with an explicit caller target while preserving the caller’s instrument-family label.
