Animal Observation Window Share Tool

Audit supplied animal observation time coverage without classifying behavior.

Description

Audit supplied animal observation time coverage without classifying behavior.

Specimen measurements and animal observations depend on a defined body part, reference value, unit, and observation window. A mass fraction, size ratio, or timing share summarizes those inputs. The counting and measurement conventions must stay explicit when comparing specimens or records.

Audit supplied animal observation time coverage without classifying behavior.

When to use this tool

Use Animal Observation Window Share when you need to compare supplied specimen measurements or observation records under an explicit reference and denominator.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter observedTime, windowDuration, unavailableTime. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read eligibleTime, share, defined. Inspect defined before interpreting the associated values.

Calculate eligibleTime=windowDuration-unavailableTime and share=observedTime/eligibleTime when positive. Require nonnegative durations, unavailableTime within the window, and observedTime no greater than eligibleTime.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input
observedTimeObserved TimeRequired. Finite number; minimum 0.
windowDurationWindow DurationRequired. Finite number; minimum 0.
unavailableTimeUnavailable TimeRequired. Finite number; minimum 0.
Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
eligibleTimeEligible TimeRequired. Finite number.
shareDimensionless fraction using the denominator stated in the mechanics; not a percentage numeral.Required. Finite number.
definedWhether the associated denominator or quantity is defined; inspect before interpreting a placeholder.Required. Boolean.

Limitations and assumptions

  • If the whole window is unavailable, share is zero with defined false. Availability and observation categories are supplied, not recovered from an observation log or interpreted as behavior.
  • The field tables state structural bounds; the mechanics also specify cross-field constraints. Malformed inputs and unsupported domains cause errors. A successful false flag, empty branch value, or zero placeholder has the meaning stated above and is distinct from an input error.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Signed zero is exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use compatible measurements and observation records to verify the chosen denominator and reference before interpreting a specimen comparison.
