Pruning Weight Per Vine

Pool actual pruning inventories by sampled vine counts while explicitly separating fresh/dry bases; not simple unweighted sample means, wood nutrient content or vine vigor diagnosis.

Description

Fresh pruning mass includes water.

Fresh pruning mass includes water. Dry-matter fractions provide a separate dry biomass basis for comparisons.

Pool actual pruning inventories by sampled vine counts while explicitly separating fresh/dry bases; not simple unweighted sample means, wood nutrient content or vine vigor diagnosis.

When to use Pruning Weight Per Vine

Use this tool to pool actual pruning inventories by sampled vine counts while explicitly separating fresh/dry bases; not simple unweighted sample means, wood nutrient content or vine vigor diagnosis.

Prepare vineyard measurements, dates or block records for the intended growing period. Keep weights, counts and weather observations in the stated units.

How to use Pruning Weight Per Vine and understand its results

  1. Prepare vineyard measurements, dates or block records for the intended growing period. Keep weights, counts and weather observations in the stated units.
  2. Enter pruningFreshMassesKgBySample, sampledVineCounts, sampleWoodDryMatterFractions using the field table and calculation rules, then run the tool.
  3. Read observedFreshPruningKgPerVineBySample, pooledDryPruningKgPerVine, pooledFreshPruningKgPerVine. The explanation below defines the units, signs, ordering and any flags or placeholder values.
  4. If the tool reports an input issue, correct the values and run it again. Apply the stated assumptions when interpreting a successfully returned result.

sampleWoodDryMatterFractionsSample wood dry matter fractionslist of numberRequired

Align nonnegative fresh sample masses, positive integer sampled vine counts and dry fractions in [0,1]. Return sample fresh kg/vine plus pooled fresh and dry means using the total vine count.1

Paired lists must be nonempty and have equal lengths.

pooled dry kg/vine = Σ fresh mass × dry fraction/Σ sampled vines

Units, indexing, boundary conditions and exceptional cases are defined in the calculation rules above.

Limitations and assumptions

The pooled mean does not weight unequal samples equally and does not diagnose vigor.

Numbers and computed results must be finite; overflow produces an error. Numeric lists are limited to 100,000 entries; the rules above may require smaller limits. Missing required fields, extra fields, wrong value types and violations of the calculation rules are input errors.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use Ravaz Index Yield Pruning Ratio: Compute matched fruit-yield/dormant-pruning Ravaz ratios and pooled biomass-exposure ratio, not an unweighted ratio mean or a prescribed balanced-vine range. For a complementary task, use Cane Weight Selection Threshold Checker: Compare measured dry cane mass per actual length against caller selection calibration; raw cane weight alone is length-confounded and this band does not establish viable/suitable fruiting wood.
