Plateau Yield Virions per Cell Final Ratio Calculator
Calculate final physical virion yield per initially infected cell; physical particles are not interchangeable with plaque-forming infectious units.
Description
Calculate final physical virion yield per initially infected cell; physical particles are not interchangeable with plaque-forming infectious units.
Physical-particle yield per initially infected cell is a count ratio. It is different from infectious burst size when not every counted particle forms an infectious unit.
When to use this tool
Calculate final physical virion yield per initially infected cell; physical particles are not interchangeable with plaque-forming infectious units.
- Prepare the supplied finalVirions, initiallyInfectedCells fields for this operation.
- Compare the complete example with the representation used by your own input before carrying the result into another step.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter finalVirions, initiallyInfectedCells. Use the exact text syntax, units and index conventions explained below.
- Run the tool. If input validation fails, correct the supplied fields before interpreting any result.
- Read result.physicalVirionsPerInitiallyInfectedCell, result.infectiousBurstSize. Interpret false, null and empty lists using the distinctions below; they can be valid outputs.
Require nonnegative finalVirions and positive initiallyInfectedCells. Divide the supplied final physical-particle yield by the initial infected-cell quantity and return infectiousBurstSize not-established.1
| Input field | Meaning and representation | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| finalVirions | final virions. | Finite number; zero or greater |
| initiallyInfectedCells | initially infected cells. | Finite number; greater than zero |
| Output field | Interpretation |
|---|---|
| result | Object containing the named outputs below. |
| result.physicalVirionsPerInitiallyInfectedCell | The physical virions per initially infected cell value under the stated formula or text convention. |
| result.infectiousBurstSize | The infectious burst size value under the stated formula or text convention. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- The tool does not measure a growth curve, subtract background particles or assay infectivity. Secondary infection, cell survival and sample recovery are not corrected.
- Every declared top-level field is required and unexpected fields are rejected. Numeric inputs must be finite; ordinary text fields are bounded to 8,192 UTF-16 code units, with tighter operation-specific limits where stated.
- Ordinary string lists have at most 128 entries of at most 128 code units each; numeric lists and matrices have separate bounded size checks. Nonfinite results and excessively large serialized outputs are rejected.
- Indexes are zero-based and spans have an exclusive end unless explicitly stated otherwise. A valid false, null or empty-list result is distinct from malformed input.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Keep physical-particle counts, infectious assay units and observed sample proportions distinct. Use the original calibration, product instructions or validated assay method for the specific context; simple conversions and reference notes do not establish infectivity or clinical interpretation.
