Tricolor Stripe Width Split Calculator
Ordered weighted tricolor split perpendicular to stripe direction, not assumed equal thirds or automatic flag identification.
Description
A tricolor split divides an extent perpendicular to its three stripes.
A tricolor split divides an extent perpendicular to its three stripes.1
Positive ordered weights allow unequal bands while keeping the intended stripe order explicit.
When to use Tricolor Stripe Width Split Calculator
Use this tool when you need to divide an extent into three explicitly weighted ordered bands. Establish the flag dimensions, orientation, specification, palette, or visual annotations needed for this particular calculation.
How to use Tricolor Stripe Width Split Calculator and understand its results
- Establish the flag dimensions, orientation, specification, palette, or visual annotations needed for this particular calculation.
- Enter perpendicularFieldExtent, callerStripeWeights, following the field table and rules below, then run the tool.
- Read result. Use the output meanings below to interpret units, signs, flags, and any nested result fields.
- Correct reported input issues and run again. For a successful result, check the stated evidence coverage and assumptions before using it in your review.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| perpendicularFieldExtent | Perpendicular field extent | number | Required |
| callerStripeWeights | Caller stripe weights | list of number | Required |
Enter a positive field extent and exactly three strictly positive ordered weights. Normalize by the total weight and multiply by the extent for each stripe width. Return widths and cumulative boundaries starting at zero. The supplied order is preserved; units follow the extent.
width_i=extent×weight_i/Σweights; boundaries=[0,cumulativeWidths] Symbols follow the input and output meanings and the calculation rules above.
| Output field | Meaning | Value type |
|---|---|---|
| result | Calculated observation or reference | object |
| result.widths | Widths | list |
| result.boundaries | Boundaries | list |

} Limitations and assumptions
The calculation divides one axis only. It does not infer color order, official proportions, family identity, or a complete rendered flag.
Missing required fields, unknown fields, wrong types, and violated calculation rules are input issues. Numeric values must be finite; nonfinite results are rejected. Evidence arrays must be dense, with no missing cells. Numeric observation lists allow at most 10,000 entries, subject to any smaller bounds stated above. Extremely large composite outputs are rejected.
Alternative or Complementary methods
For a related review, use Triband Per-Fly Segment Divider: A per-fly division follows the axis from hoist to fly. Three ordered positive weights define the boundary positions along that axis. For a complementary step, use Stripe Sequence Vector Encoder: An ordered stripe palette vector represents each stripe by its position in a declared palette. The same colors in another order therefore produce a different vector.
