Description
Supplied static head and signed pressure-loss bookkeeping.
An indoor-growing record or design budget combines quantities such as tray area, operating time, water volume, electrical energy, and light output. Ratios depend on a stated production boundary and period. Supplied conversion factors and idealized geometry need to remain separate from measured equipment and crop performance.
Supplied static head and signed pressure-loss bookkeeping.
When to use this tool
Use Nutrient Loop Top Bottom Pressure Head Gap when you need one stated production, lighting, water, or geometry term from a consistently defined growing-system budget.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter heightDifference, density, gravity, lossPressure. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read staticPressure, totalDifference. Use the output convention below.
Calculate staticPressure=heightDifference*density*gravity and totalDifference=staticPressure+lossPressure. Require positive density and gravity while retaining signed height and loss terms.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| heightDifference | Signed height difference; meters for SI pressure. | Required. Finite number. |
| density | Positive liquid density; kg/m³ for an SI calculation. | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| gravity | Positive acceleration; m/s² for SI. | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| lossPressure | Signed added pressure term, using the same pressure unit as staticPressure. | Required. Finite number. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| staticPressure | Static Pressure | Required. Finite number. |
| totalDifference | Total Difference | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Use kg/m³, m/s², and meters for pressure in pascals, with lossPressure on that same signed basis. The tool does not derive friction losses, select a pump, or certify system safety.
- The field tables state structural bounds; the mechanics also specify cross-field constraints. Malformed inputs and unsupported domains cause errors. A successful false flag, empty branch value, or zero placeholder has the meaning stated above and is distinct from an input error.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Signed zero is exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Compare the supplied budget with measured system records and keep the same production boundary. Equipment selection, installation, and crop requirements need an appropriate engineering or agronomic assessment.
