Description
Calculate marked facade gaps as a share of total frontage.
Planning measurements depend on lot boundaries, excluded area, frontage, ground datum and the unit or person being served. A footprint fraction and a width margin answer different geometric questions. Accessibility, easement rights and zoning compliance depend on verified conditions and applicable requirements beyond a supplied flag or numerical comparison.
Calculate marked facade gaps as a share of total frontage.
When to use this tool
Use Urban Block Facade Gap Fraction when you already have markedFacadeGapLength, totalFrontageLength and need to calculate marked facade gaps as a share of total frontage.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter markedFacadeGapLength, totalFrontageLength. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read fraction, remainder. Use the output convention below.
Require frontage>0 and marked gap length within [0,frontage]; return gap/frontage and frontage-gap.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| markedFacadeGapLength | Marked Facade Gap Length | Required. Finite number; minimum 0. |
| totalFrontageLength | Total Frontage Length | Required. Finite number; strictly above 0. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| fraction | Fraction | Required. Finite number. |
| remainder | Remainder | Required. Finite number. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Measured extents need a common basis; no urban-design quality, lawful frontage or accessibility is inferred.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use a verified survey, route inspection and the applicable planning definitions for actual coverage, access or height questions. Separate a supplied geometric margin from the documentation needed to establish an easement or accessibility condition.
