Weekly Recoupment

Calculate weekly recoupment and a simple remaining-capital horizon.

Description

Weekly recoupment is gross less the supplied weekly costs.

Weekly recoupment is gross less the supplied weekly costs. A simple remaining-capital horizon assumes that contribution continues at a constant rate.1

Calculate weekly recoupment and a simple remaining-capital horizon.

When to use Weekly Recoupment

Use this tool to calculate weekly recoupment and a simple remaining-capital horizon.

Prepare the measurements or record lists for the intended production, performer, cohort or planning period. Confirm units, shared time/coordinate conventions and supplied targets.

How to use Weekly Recoupment and understand its results

  1. Prepare the measurements or record lists for the intended production, performer, cohort or planning period. Confirm units, shared time/coordinate conventions and supplied targets.
  2. Enter weeklyGross, weeklyVariableCosts, weeklyFixedCosts, unrecoupedCapital using the field table and calculation rules, then run the tool.
  3. Read weeklyRecoupment, projectedWeeksToRecoup, currentlyRecouping. The explanation below defines the units, signs, ordering and any flags or placeholder values.
  4. If the tool reports an input issue, correct the values and run it again. Apply the stated assumptions when interpreting a successfully returned result.
Input fieldMeaningValue type; see rules belowRequirement
weeklyGrossWeekly grossnumber; minimum: 0Required
weeklyVariableCostsWeekly variable costsnumber; minimum: 0Required
weeklyFixedCostsWeekly fixed costsnumber; minimum: 0Required
unrecoupedCapitalUnrecouped capitalnumber; minimum: 0Required

Enter nonnegative gross, both cost totals and remaining capital in one currency. Compute contribution. If it is positive, return fractional weeks and currentlyRecouping=true; otherwise return projectedWeeksToRecoup=0 with currentlyRecouping=false. Read the flag to distinguish that placeholder from immediate payback.

weeklyRecoupment=gross−variableCosts−fixedCosts; weeks=unrecoupedCapital/positiveRecoupment

Units, indexing, boundary conditions and exceptional cases are defined in the calculation rules above.

Limitations and assumptions

No tax, financing, profit participation or time-varying performance is modeled. A zero-week placeholder under losses does not mean capital is recouped; zero capital with positive contribution gives true and zero weeks.

Numeric inputs must be finite. Follow the calculation-specific rules for overflow, underflow and exceptional cases. Missing required fields, extra fields, wrong value types and violations of the calculation rules are input errors. A successfully returned false flag is an evaluated outcome; its meaning is explained above.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use Subscriber Funnel: Calculate conversion rates and drop-off through a three-stage subscriber funnel. For a complementary task, use Economic Feed Rate: Select the unique best contribution margin among caller measured feed/gain trials; not feed-cost-per-gain arithmetic, growth-curve extrapolation or feeding advice.
