Edge-Blend Overlap
Calculate overlap pixels and total blended width for a horizontal projector row.
Description
Horizontal projector blending overlaps adjacent images, reducing their combined unique canvas width.
Horizontal projector blending overlaps adjacent images, reducing their combined unique canvas width. With equal images and overlaps, there is one overlap per adjacent pair.1
Calculate overlap pixels and total blended width for a horizontal projector row.
When to use Edge-Blend Overlap
Use this tool to calculate overlap pixels and total blended width for a horizontal projector row.
Prepare production measurements or checklist records for one planning period. Confirm units, staffing assumptions and caller-selected criteria before running the calculation.
How to use Edge-Blend Overlap and understand its results
- Prepare production measurements or checklist records for one planning period. Confirm units, staffing assumptions and caller-selected criteria before running the calculation.
- Enter projectorCount, imageWidthPixels, overlapPercent using the field table and calculation rules, then run the tool.
- Read overlapPixels, blendedCanvasWidthPixels. The explanation below defines the units, signs, ordering and any flags or placeholder values.
- If the tool reports an input issue, correct the values and run it again. Apply the stated assumptions when interpreting a successfully returned result.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type; see rules below | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| projectorCount | Projector count | integer; minimum: 1 | Required |
| imageWidthPixels | Image width per projector (px) | integer; minimum: 1 | Required |
| overlapPercent | Adjacent overlap (%) | number; minimum: 0; maximum: 100 | Required |
Enter positive integer projector count/width and overlap percentage from zero to below 100. Return overlap pixels and combined width. Fractional pixel estimates are retained rather than rounded.
overlapPixels=width×overlapPercent/100; canvas=count×width−(count−1)×overlapPixels Units, indexing, boundary conditions and exceptional cases are defined in the calculation rules above.
| Output field | Meaning | Value type |
|---|---|---|
| overlapPixels | Overlap per seam (px) | number; minimum: 0 |
| blendedCanvasWidthPixels | Blended canvas width (px) | number; minimum: 0 |

This does not calibrate brightness, blend masks, alignment or geometry. One projector has its full image width regardless of the supplied overlap.
Numeric inputs must be finite. Follow the calculation-specific rules for overflow, underflow and exceptional cases. Missing required fields, extra fields, wrong value types and violations of the calculation rules are input errors.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use Projection Pixel Density: Calculate linear and angular pixel density for a projected image. For a complementary task, use Pixel-Map Capacity: Calculate pixel-map canvas size and control-universe capacity.
