Return Restocking Fee Base Tool

Apply a caller-specified restocking fee to an explicitly reduced return-value base without selecting a returns policy.

Description

Subtract excludedValue from returnedGoodsValue for feeBase.

Inventory charges and price differences require a common currency and unit basis. A fee fraction or unit-price variance is one component of a transaction rather than its complete landed cost.

Subtract excludedValue from returnedGoodsValue for feeBase.

When to use this tool

Use Return Restocking Fee Base when you need one procurement or stock-cost component from supplied amounts.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter returnedGoodsValue, excludedValue, feeFraction. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read feeBase, restockingFee, netCredit. Use the output convention below.

Subtract excludedValue from returnedGoodsValue for feeBase. Multiply by feeFraction in [0, 1] and subtract that fee from the whole returned value for netCredit.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Excluded value avoids the fee but remains in the credit; contractual rights, taxes, and monetary rounding are not determined.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Reconcile the result with the invoice, contract terms, taxes, and any charges outside this calculation.
