Run Heart-Rate Training Zone Tool
Translate caller maximum-HR percentage zones and audit actual HR; distinct from existing reserve/rest-HR Karvonen, no exercise clearance or universal zone labels.
Description
Maximum-heart-rate percentage zones differ from heart-rate-reserve zones.
Maximum-heart-rate percentage zones differ from heart-rate-reserve zones. Caller intervals can overlap or leave gaps.1
The returned values include Caller zone heart rate ranges bpm, Compatible caller heart rate zone ids. The How section below explains the calculation, input rules and interpretation.
When to use Run Heart-Rate Training Zone Tool
Use Run Heart-Rate Training Zone Tool when you need to evaluate the supplied records under the calculation and evidence rules below. No universal zone labels, reserve calculation or exercise clearance is supplied.
Prepare the observed race, match or training records and the stated units. Supply independently verified rule editions, calibration tables and targets where requested.
How to use Run Heart-Rate Training Zone Tool and understand its results
- Prepare the observed race, match or training records and the stated units. Supply independently verified rule editions, calibration tables and targets where requested.
- Enter independentlyEstablishedMaxHeartRateBpm, callerZoneIds, callerMaxHeartRateFractionRanges, observedHeartRateBpm using the field table and calculation rules, then run the tool.
- Read callerZoneHeartRateRangesBpm, compatibleCallerHeartRateZoneIds. The explanation below defines the units, signs, ordering and any flags or placeholder values.
- If the tool reports an input issue, correct the values and run it again. Apply the stated assumptions when interpreting a successfully returned result.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type; see rules below | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| independentlyEstablishedMaxHeartRateBpm | Independently established max heart rate bpm | number | Required |
| callerZoneIds | Caller zone ids | list of string | Required |
| callerMaxHeartRateFractionRanges | Caller max heart rate fraction ranges | list of list of number | Required |
| observedHeartRateBpm | Observed heart rate bpm | number | Required |
Enter positive independently established max/observed HR, unique nonblank zone IDs and aligned nonempty ordered two-column fraction ranges 0–1. Return BPM intervals and all inclusive matching IDs.
zoneBpm=maxHR×fractionBounds Units, indexing, boundary conditions and exceptional cases are defined in the calculation rules above.
| Output field | Meaning | Value type |
|---|---|---|
| callerZoneHeartRateRangesBpm | Caller zone heart rate ranges bpm | list of list of number |
| compatibleCallerHeartRateZoneIds | Compatible caller heart rate zone ids | list of string |

} Limitations and assumptions
No universal zone labels, reserve calculation or exercise clearance is supplied.
Numeric inputs, where present, must be finite. Follow the calculation-specific rules for overflow, underflow and exceptional cases. Matrices are limited to 128 rows and 128 entries per row. Numeric lists are limited to 10,000 entries; string lists to 128 strings of at most 128 characters each. The rules above may impose smaller limits. Missing required fields, extra fields, wrong value types and violations of the calculation rules are input errors.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use Tanaka Max HR Formula: Tanaka’s age regression describes adult population maximum heart rate. An individual observed peak can differ from the regression. For a complementary task, use Cycling Training Zone Lookup: Cycling power-zone intervals scale from measured FTP. Overlap and absence of matching zones remain visible.
