Cave System Total Length Aggregator

Sum unique independently mapped physical passage segments, unknowns retained; duplicate IDsrejected, physical nonoverlap/completeness externally verified. No total-length accuracy or gear operational safety.

Description

Mapped cave length counts unique physical passage segments under a declared survey convention.

Mapped cave length counts unique physical passage segments under a declared survey convention.1

Unmeasured or unresolved segments must remain distinct from the known-length total.

When to use Cave System Total Length Aggregator

Use this tool to obtain knownTotal, knownIds, unknownIds from the supplied records using the stated calculation. Establish the survey or observation scope, reference frame, units and independently applicable calibration or qualified plan.

How to use Cave System Total Length Aggregator and understand its results

  1. Establish the survey or observation scope, reference frame, units and independently applicable calibration or qualified plan.
  2. Enter actualPhysicalSegmentIds, actualSegmentLengthsMeters, itemEvidenceKnownFlags, using the field meanings and rules below, then run the tool.
  3. Read knownTotal with knownIds and unknownIds. A known total does not complete an inventory whose records remain unknown.
  4. Correct any reported input issue and run again. Before using a successful result, check the stated units, signs, reference scope and observation coverage.
Input fieldMeaningValue typeRequirement
actualPhysicalSegmentIdsActual physical segment idslist of stringRequired
actualSegmentLengthsMetersActual segment lengths meterslist of numberRequired
itemEvidenceKnownFlagsItem evidence known flags; binary 1 means the matched observation is known, 0 means unknownlist of numberRequired

Supply nonempty aligned unique nonblank record IDs, nonnegative recorded contributions and binary known flags. Sum known contributions only and partition IDs into known and unknown lists in input order. An entirely unknown ledger returns zero known total alongside unknown IDs, not a complete zero exposure.

knownTotal=Σ(contribution_i where known_i=1)

Use the matching field units and the exact boundary, ordering and reference rules above.

Limitations and assumptions

The actual observation coverage, calibration and qualified plan determine applicability. A numerical result does not establish survey accuracy, route suitability, atmosphere conditions or equipment adequacy beyond the declared comparison.

Missing required fields, unknown fields, wrong types and violated rules return input issues. Numeric values and outputs must be finite. Lists and matrices must be dense, without missing cells. Numeric lists allow at most 10000 entries, subject to the narrower lengths and code rules above. String lists allow at most 128 entries of at most 128 UTF-16 units each; blank and duplicate rules are stated above. Extremely large composite outputs are rejected.

Alternative or Complementary methods

For a related step, use Mapped Length per Session Productivity Calculator: New unique mapped length per session summarizes a defined survey activity record. For a complementary comparison, use Length Record Ranking Comparator: Cave-length rankings require compatible, independently established record conventions.
