Depth Record Ranking Comparator
Actual actual same-datum cave vertical depth inventory competition ranking, ties and unknown evidence retained. Reference date/coverage and actual survey conventions external; not global authoritative record.
Description
Cave-depth rankings depend on compatible datum and vertical-relief conventions.
Cave-depth rankings depend on compatible datum and vertical-relief conventions.1
Tied known records and unresolved entries should retain their distinct meanings.
When to use Depth Record Ranking Comparator
Use this tool to obtain rankedKnownIds, competitionRanks, unknownIds from the supplied records using the stated calculation. Establish the survey or observation scope, reference frame, units and independently applicable calibration or qualified plan.
How to use Depth Record Ranking Comparator and understand its results
- Establish the survey or observation scope, reference frame, units and independently applicable calibration or qualified plan.
- Enter actualCaveRecordIds, independentlyVerifiedRecordValuesMeters, recordEvidenceKnownFlags, using the field meanings and rules below, then run the tool.
- Read rankedKnownIds alongside competitionRanks, and keep unknownIds separate. Ties share ranks and leave gaps after the tied group.
- Correct any reported input issue and run again. Before using a successful result, check the stated units, signs, reference scope and observation coverage.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| actualCaveRecordIds | Actual cave record ids | list of string | Required |
| independentlyVerifiedRecordValuesMeters | Independently verified record values meters | list of number | Required |
| recordEvidenceKnownFlags | Record evidence known flags; binary 1 means the matched observation is known, 0 means unknown | list of number | Required |
Supply nonempty aligned unique nonblank record IDs, nonnegative finite values in metres and binary known flags. Rank only known records by descending value. Equal values receive the same competition rank, with gaps after ties; tied IDs retain input order. Return unknown IDs separately. No known records yields empty known rankings alongside unresolved IDs. The tool does not fetch records or check comparability.
rank_i=1+count(knownValues greater than value_i) Use the matching field units and the exact boundary, ordering and reference rules above.
| Output field | Meaning | Value type |
|---|---|---|
| result | Qualified observed calculation or explicit reference | object |
| result.rankedKnownIds | Known record identifiers sorted by descending value, with input order retained for ties. | list |
| result.competitionRanks | Descending competition ranks aligned with rankedKnownIds; ties share ranks and leave gaps. | list |
| result.unknownIds | Record identifiers whose contributions remain unknown, in supplied order. | list |

} Limitations and assumptions
The actual observation coverage, calibration and qualified plan determine applicability. A numerical result does not establish survey accuracy, route suitability, atmosphere conditions or equipment adequacy beyond the declared comparison.
Missing required fields, unknown fields, wrong types and violated rules return input issues. Numeric values and outputs must be finite. Lists and matrices must be dense, without missing cells. Numeric lists allow at most 10000 entries, subject to the narrower lengths and code rules above. String lists allow at most 128 entries of at most 128 UTF-16 units each; blank and duplicate rules are stated above. Extremely large composite outputs are rejected.
Alternative or Complementary methods
For a related step, use Length Record Ranking Comparator: Cave-length rankings require compatible, independently established record conventions. For a complementary comparison, use Cave Depth Total from Station Chain Calculator: Cave vertical relief is the difference between the highest and lowest surveyed station elevations.
