Rearing Bed Area Per 1000 DFLs

Plan stage-specific bed areas and whole trays per observed DFL/egg/hatch/survival scenario; DFL is an inventory label, not a disease-free certification or universal density.

Description

DFL identifies a laying inventory used in rearing plans.

DFL identifies a laying inventory used in rearing plans. Egg count, hatch, survival and stage density determine expected space demand.

Plan stage-specific bed areas and whole trays per observed DFL/egg/hatch/survival scenario; DFL is an inventory label, not a disease-free certification or universal density.

When to use Rearing Bed Area Per 1000 DFLs

Use this tool to plan stage-specific bed areas and whole trays per observed DFL/egg/hatch/survival scenario; DFL is an inventory label, not a disease-free certification or universal density.

Prepare cocoon, larval, leaf or reeling measurements on a consistent batch and moisture basis. Use the declared mass, length and time units.

How to use Rearing Bed Area Per 1000 DFLs and understand its results

  1. Prepare cocoon, larval, leaf or reeling measurements on a consistent batch and moisture basis. Use the declared mass, length and time units.
  2. Enter diseaseFreeLayingCount, eggsPerLaying, hatchFraction, survivalFractionsToStages, larvaePerM2ByStage, trayUsableAreaM2 using the field table and calculation rules, then run the tool.
  3. Read expectedLarvaeByStage, requiredBedAreasM2, wholeTrayCounts, peakBedAreaPer1000DflM2. The explanation below defines the units, signs, ordering and any flags or placeholder values.
  4. If the tool reports an input issue, correct the values and run it again. Apply the stated assumptions when interpreting a successfully returned result.

trayUsableAreaM2Tray usable area m2numberRequired

Use positive integer layings, nonnegative integer eggs, fractions in [0,1], nonincreasing stage survival and positive densities/tray area. Return expected larvae, areas, upward-rounded trays and peak area per 1000 DFL.1

Paired lists must be nonempty and have equal lengths.

stage area = layings × eggs/laying × hatch × cumulative survival/stage density

Units, indexing, boundary conditions and exceptional cases are defined in the calculation rules above.

Limitations and assumptions

The inventory label does not certify disease-free status or establish recommended densities.

Numbers and computed results must be finite; overflow produces an error. Numeric lists are limited to 100,000 entries; the rules above may require smaller limits. Missing required fields, extra fields, wrong value types and violations of the calculation rules are input errors.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use Bed Spacing Density Checker: Audit actual bed inventories against stage-specific caller density limits; signed excess preserves spare capacity and is distinct from DFL forecast bed sizing. For a complementary task, use Tray Stack Gap Height: Calculate equal clear intertray gap after tray thickness and room edge clearances and compare caller minimum; airflow, rack strength and ergonomics are not certified.
