Pierced Cocoon Percent Loss Calculator
Observed pierced-cocoon fraction; not financial loss or automatic grading.
Description
Calculate the observed percentage of pierced cocoons in an inspected sample.
The fraction of pierced cocoons can be reported from a counted inspection sample. That sample percentage is distinct from a monetary or silk-yield loss estimate.
When to use this tool
Calculate the observed percentage of pierced cocoons in an inspected sample. Use it when the input measurements and conventions below match the operation you need.
- Prepare piercedCount, inspectedCount, respecting the measurement basis and boundaries below.
- Compare the worked example with your intended operation before reusing its result.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter every field in the input table using the stated units and exact supported selector spelling where applicable.
- Run the tool. Correct input errors before interpreting an output.
- Read the result fields below; use accompanying flags and the stated sign, boundary or model convention when interpreting a number.
Counts must be integers, with inspected count from 1 to one billion and pierced count from zero through the inspected total. The tool returns 100 times pierced count divided by inspected count.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| piercedCount | Pierced count. | Integer; from 0 to 1000000000 inclusive |
| inspectedCount | Inspected count. | Integer; from 1 to 1000000000 inclusive |
| Output field | Interpretation |
|---|---|
| result | Object containing the following named result fields. |
| result.piercedPercent | Pierced percent; use the stated units and sign convention. |
{
"input": {
"piercedCount": 5,
"inspectedCount": 100
},
"output": {
"result": {
"piercedPercent": 5
}
}
} Limitations and assumptions
- The result describes the entered sample. Sampling error, lot representativeness, defect severity and economic loss are not evaluated.
- Every declared field is required and unexpected fields are rejected. Numeric inputs must be finite; input errors are distinct from a valid false result or an explicitly qualified output.
- Extremely large inputs and nonfinite or excessively large outputs are rejected. List positions reported by the tool use zero-based indices unless stated otherwise.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Keep lot, sampling, processing and mass-basis records with the result. Where this page retrieves supplied guidance, consult the underlying current source rather than treating retrieval as a new measurement or process validation. Compare the scope of the nearby tools below before substituting one.
