Description
Classify requestedIndex before initialIndex as before-sequence, within the next order positions as initial-condition, and later as recurrence-step.
A sequence depends on its starting index, initial values, and recurrence or difference rule. A component evaluated at one index does not establish the behavior of an arbitrary sequence outside those supplied conventions.
Classify requestedIndex before initialIndex as before-sequence, within the next order positions as initial-condition, and later as recurrence-step.
When to use this tool
Use Recurrence Step Boundary Label when you need a bounded sequence-index or adjacent-difference calculation.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter initialIndex, order, requestedIndex. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read status. Use the output convention below.

} Limitations and assumptions
- This identifies an index region only; recurrence coefficients and sequence values are not supplied or evaluated.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Write down the full sequence definition and verify its indexing when comparing with another source.
