Semiconductor Diamond Bandgap Calculator

Extract caller-selected direct-transition Tauc fit of actual Diamond optical response, selection/transition convention independently verified; no room-temperature bandgap lookup, indirect-transition assumption or fitted-gap truth claim.

Description

Optical gap extraction depends on the selected transition convention and fitted spectral region.

Optical gap extraction depends on the selected transition convention and fitted spectral region.1, 2

This diamond tool fits a supplied direct-transition Tauc response and does not return the material’s indirect fundamental gap.

When to use Semiconductor Diamond Bandgap Calculator

Use this tool when you need to calculate the stated measurement summary or conditional model from matched observations. Prepare independently matched device or specimen measurements, units, branch selection, and model or calibration conventions.

How to use Semiconductor Diamond Bandgap Calculator and understand its results

  1. Prepare independently matched device or specimen measurements, units, branch selection, and model or calibration conventions.
  2. Enter observedPhotonEnergyEv, observedSquaredDirectTaucResponse, callerSelectedFitIndices, following the field table and calculation rules below, then run the tool.
  3. Read measuredDirectTaucGapEv, selectedTaucFitRSquared. Use the output table and calculation rules below to interpret units, signs, crossings, and flags.
  4. Correct any input issues and run again. Before using a successful result, review its units, signs, evidence coverage, and stated model or reference assumptions.

Use positive strictly increasing photon energies with aligned nonnegative already-squared direct Tauc responses. Supply unique zero-based safe-integer fit indices within the spectrum. Fit the selected samples, requiring at least two distinct energies and positive slope, then return −intercept/slope and R². The fitted gap is not forced positive.

The regression helper accepts 2–10000 aligned finite pairs with nonzero predictor variance. It fits ordinary least squares with a free intercept using shifted coordinates; samples need not be sorted unless this tool additionally requires it. R² is clamped to [0,1] and is one for constant responses. Transformed fits use the stated log or reciprocal predictor/response basis; R² is a fit summary rather than a confidence interval.

Limitations and assumptions

Measurements, branch identification, units, and model applicability must be independently established. Results do not supply universal material constants, a complete physical model, or operating-condition approval.

Missing required fields, unknown fields, wrong types, and violated calculation rules return input issues. Numeric values must be finite; nonfinite numeric outputs are rejected. Arrays must be dense, with no missing cells. Numeric lists allow at most 10000 entries, subject to smaller tool-specific bounds above.

Alternative or Complementary methods

For a related task, use Semiconductor Bn Bandgap Calculator: A direct-transition Tauc fit uses an independently selected spectral response and fit region. Its extrapolated energy intercept is a model estimate rather than a universal BN bandgap. For a complementary step, use Semiconductor Beta Ga2o3 Bandgap Calculator: Optical gap fits require a transition convention and a suitable observed spectral region. This β-Ga₂O₃ tool uses supplied direct-transition Tauc responses rather than a tabulated material constant.
