Description

Bound a supplied diary duration while respecting that end cannot precede start; no symptom severity interpretation.

Research records distinguish observed, missing, inapplicable, and unverified entries. Those categories affect which denominator or weight a summary uses. A completeness or timing calculation describes the supplied records without assigning a clinical score or interpreting a condition.

Bound a supplied diary duration while respecting that end cannot precede start; no symptom severity interpretation.

When to use this tool

Use it for stiffness duration partial time bound when the required inputs and conventions are already available.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter startLower, startUpper, endLower, endUpper. Use the stated units and boundary conventions.
  2. Run the calculation. Correct any input error before interpreting a result.
  3. Read durationLower, durationUpper, overlapUncertainty. Inspect any known, defined, inclusion, or boundary flags before interpreting numeric values.

Bound a feasible duration from uncertain start and end intervals: lower is max(0,endLower-startUpper) and upper is endUpper-startLower. Mark overlapUncertainty when endLower is below startUpper.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Bounds must be ordered and permit at least one nonnegative duration. This preserves diary timing uncertainty without assigning symptom severity or a clinical score.
  • The field tables describe structural bounds; the mechanics also state cross-field requirements. Malformed input shapes, disallowed keys, and invalid domains cause input errors. Results must remain finite and within the declared output contract. A successful false flag or zero placeholder is distinct from an error.
  • Numeric arithmetic uses binary floating point. Exact comparisons have no hidden tolerance or decimal rounding; negative zero is exported as zero. Decimal-text integer operations retain the exactness specifically stated above.

Alternative or Complementary methods

For stiffness duration partial time bound, check the source records and the supplied rule before comparing the result with another method. Use an appropriately validated measurement or analysis method for clinical interpretation.
