Laconic Brevity Spartan Style Flag Checker
Audit observed brevity under caller explicit speech/writing style budget; shortness alone does not establish Spartan historical origin. Actual independently verified laconic-style lengths observations against independently verified inclusive caller bands; signed margins and missing observations retained, not conformance/authenticity.
Description
Laconic brevity is a contextual style description rather than a historical origin inferred from length.
Laconic brevity is a contextual style description rather than a historical origin inferred from length.1
Supplied length bands support a bounded review of observations and missing evidence.
When to use Laconic Brevity Spartan Style Flag Checker
Use this tool when you need to review known observations against explicit inclusive bands. Establish the language, clause boundaries, transcription basis, source context, or evidence annotations required by this particular tool.
How to use Laconic Brevity Spartan Style Flag Checker and understand its results
- Establish the language, clause boundaries, transcription basis, source context, or evidence annotations required by this particular tool.
- Enter observedValues, callerLower, callerUpper, knownFlags, following the field table and calculation rules below, then run the tool.
- Read result. Inspect the nested fields in the output table below and keep any missing evidence or selected indices visible.
- Correct any input issues and run again. Before using a successful result, review its units, signs, evidence coverage, and stated model or reference assumptions.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| observedValues | Observed values | list of number | Required |
| callerLower | Independently selected inclusive lower bounds on the same measurement basis | list of number | Required |
| callerUpper | Independently selected inclusive upper bounds on the same measurement basis | list of number | Required |
| knownFlags | Binary observation-known flags; zero leaves the corresponding margin unassessed | list of number | Required |
Supply nonempty aligned observedValues, callerLower, callerUpper, and binary knownFlags. Require each lower bound at most its upper bound. For each known value return the smaller signed distance to those bounds: positive inside, zero on a boundary, negative outside. Only known outside values enter knownReviewIndices. Unknown entries receive zero placeholders and separate unknownCriterionIndices; their zero margins do not confirm that a criterion was met.
margin_i=known_i?min(value_i−lower_i,upper_i−value_i):0 Read these symbols with the field meanings and branch or reference rules above.
| Output field | Meaning | Value type |
|---|---|---|
| result | Object containing the fields below | object |
| result.signedKnownMargins | Known signed distances to supplied bounds; zero placeholders for unknowns | list |
| result.knownReviewIndices | Zero-based known observations strictly outside their supplied inclusive bands | list |
| result.unknownIndices | Unknown Indices | list |

} Limitations and assumptions
The measurement basis and applicable bands are supplied by the user. Unknown observations are not passing evidence, and a length-band result does not establish historical origin, syntax, or literary quality.
Missing required fields, unknown fields, wrong types, and violated calculation rules return input issues. Numeric values must be finite; nonfinite numeric outputs are rejected. Arrays must be dense, with no missing cells. Numeric lists allow at most 10000 entries, subject to smaller tool-specific bounds above. Extremely large composite outputs are rejected.
Alternative or Complementary methods
For a related task, use Isocolon Equal Clause Length Checker: Isocolon concerns parallel parts of comparable length under a stated measurement basis. An explicit spread tolerance can screen those lengths without establishing syntax or literary effect. For a complementary step, use Circumlocution Periphrasis Roundabout Checker: Periphrasis expresses material through a longer or roundabout form. Comparing lengths requires an independently matched direct expression, since a ratio cannot establish semantic equivalence or poor style.
