Waterfall Distribution Calculator
Actual contract-established fixed ordered cash claims waterfall ledger, independently verified priority/entitlements. No infer IRR hurdle, preferred return/catchup/promote or legal deal terms. Exact minor units, unpaidclaims/residual explicit.
Description
A cash waterfall pays established claims in priority order.
A cash waterfall pays established claims in priority order.1
A ledger of fixed claims differs from calculating preferred returns, catch-up provisions or IRR-based entitlements. The calculation and input requirements are explained below.
When to use Waterfall Distribution Calculator
Enter nonnegative safe integer distributable cash and ordered tier claims in one currency's minor units.
How to use Waterfall Distribution Calculator and how it works
- Prepare the measurements or independently established model inputs described below, with matching units and observation scope.
- Enter the required fields and run Waterfall Distribution Calculator.
- Read the result fields using the formula, output units, signs and ordering explained below.
- Correct any rejected inputs and rerun; interpret the result within the stated model and its assumptions.
| Input field | Meaning | Value type | Requirement |
|---|---|---|---|
| actualDistributableCashMinorUnits | Actual Distributable Cash Minor Units. Use the units and matching context stated in the calculation below. | number | Required; finite; other constraints below |
| callerContractEstablishedSequentialTierClaimsMinorUnits | Caller Contract Established Sequential Tier Claims Minor Units. Use the units and matching context stated in the calculation below. | array of number | Required; other constraints below |
Enter nonnegative safe integer distributable cash and ordered tier claims in one currency's minor units. For each claim pay the smaller of claim and remaining cash, then reduce cash. Return payments, unpaid claim balances and final unallocated residual in supplied order. Empty claims leave the entire pool unallocated.
paid_i=min(remainingCash,claim_i); remainingCash=remainingCash-paid_i Apply the input ordering, units and branch conditions stated above.
| Output field | Meaning | Value type |
|---|---|---|
| result | Object containing the calculated or selected fields below. | object |
| result.actualPaidPerTierMinorUnits | Actual Paid Per Tier Minor Units. Interpret its unit, sign, order or availability flag as explained above. | array of number |
| result.unpaidTierClaimMinorUnits | Unpaid Tier Claim Minor Units. Interpret its unit, sign, order or availability flag as explained above. | array of number |
| result.unallocatedResidualMinorUnits | Unallocated Residual Minor Units. Interpret its unit, sign, order or availability flag as explained above. | number |

} Limitations and assumptions
The calculation uses the supplied observations and model inputs. It does not collect measurements, select a reference population or coefficient, or establish that the model applies to the actual case. The stated branch conditions and output units remain part of the result.
All fields require explicit values. Unexpected fields, wrong types, nonfinite numbers and sparse arrays are rejected. Alignment, bounds and supported-token rules are explained above; extremely large inputs or nonfinite results can also fail. Input errors differ from successful false comparisons, unavailable-domain flags and empty match lists.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Use Promote Calculator for a complementary operation: A promote applies a contract-defined share to an eligible residual cash pool.
Use GP LP Split Calculator for a complementary operation: GP and LP cash shares apply after contract priority claims and promotes have been resolved.
