Description
Calculate vacancy lost rent, holding cost and their supplied total.
Property bookkeeping distinguishes scheduled and collected rent, concessions, assigned common area, fee bases and calendar boundaries. A decimal index change differs from a percentage-number input, and a rent-free period needs explicit start/end conventions. Supplied scenarios do not establish market value, lawful charges, possession or enforceable lease terms.
Calculate vacancy lost rent, holding cost and their supplied total.
When to use this tool
Use Unit Vacancy Day Cost when you already have dailyLostRent, vacantDays, dailyHoldingCost and need to calculate vacancy lost rent, holding cost and their supplied total.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter dailyLostRent, vacantDays, dailyHoldingCost. Use the units and conventions below.
- Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
- Read lostRent, holdingCost, totalCost. Use the output convention below.
Require nonnegative daily costs and safe whole vacantDays>=0; multiply each daily cost by days and total both components.1

} Limitations and assumptions
- Assumes constant supplied daily costs; excludes unlisted expenses, actual rent collection, valuation and legal claims.
- Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
- Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.
Alternative or Complementary methods
Review the lease, transaction records and stated area-measurement method for actual charges and allocations. Use a complete cash-flow or closing statement when assessing net proceeds; supplied credits, caps and fee terms are scenario components.
