Description
Calculate respiratory epoch support share from explicit caller-supplied inputs.
A bench or research calculation starts from supplied measurements, reference values, and unit conventions. A transformed value, timing difference, or support fraction describes that model; its clinical meaning depends on measurement validity and a separate professional assessment.
Calculate respiratory epoch support share from explicit caller-supplied inputs.
When to use this tool
Use it for respiratory epoch support share when the required inputs and conventions are already available.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter epochDurations, signalValid, phaseKnown, sensorConnected. Keep parallel arrays aligned and use the stated units and conventions.
- Run the calculation. Correct any input error before interpreting a result.
- Read recordedDuration, supportedDuration, share, defined. Inspect any known, defined, inclusion, or boundary flags before interpreting numeric values.
Require aligned nonnegative epoch durations and three flag arrays. Sum all durations for recordedDuration and only epochs with valid signal, known phase, and connected sensor for supportedDuration; return their ratio when recorded duration is positive.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| epochDurations | Epoch Durations | Required. Array of Finite number; minimum 0.; maximum items 256. |
| signalValid | Signal Valid | Required. Array of Boolean.; maximum items 256. |
| phaseKnown | Phase Known | Required. Array of Boolean.; maximum items 256. |
| sensorConnected | Sensor Connected | Required. Array of Boolean.; maximum items 256. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| recordedDuration | Recorded Duration | Required. Finite number. |
| supportedDuration | Supported Duration | Required. Finite number. |
| share | Dimensionless fraction using the denominator described above; not a percentage numeral. | Required. Finite number. |
| defined | Whether the associated denominator or quantity is defined; read this before interpreting a zero placeholder. | Required. Boolean. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- This is duration-weighted support rather than a count of epochs. A zero total gives share zero with defined false, and supplied flags do not establish diagnostic signal quality.
- The field tables describe structural bounds; the mechanics also state cross-field requirements. Malformed input shapes, disallowed keys, and invalid domains cause input errors. Results must remain finite and within the declared output contract. A successful false flag or zero placeholder is distinct from an error.
- Numeric arithmetic uses binary floating point. Exact comparisons have no hidden tolerance or decimal rounding; negative zero is exported as zero. Decimal-text integer operations retain the exactness specifically stated above.
Alternative or Complementary methods
For respiratory epoch support share, check the source records and the supplied rule before comparing the result with another method. Use an appropriately validated measurement or analysis method for clinical interpretation.
