Description
Reconcile supplied closed-vial and opened-dose inventories.
Public-health summaries depend on who is counted, which observations are verified, and the period and population used as the base. Shares, weighted contributions, and inventory balances describe supplied records; they do not by themselves establish a health outcome or a clinical recommendation.
Reconcile supplied closed-vial and opened-dose inventories.
When to use this tool
Use it for immunization stock opened wasted balance when the required inputs and conventions are already available.
How to use the tool and how it works
- Enter opening, received, opened, administered, wastedOpen, discardedClosed, dosesPerVial. Use the stated units and boundary conventions.
- Run the calculation. Correct any input error before interpreting a result.
- Read closedVials, openDoseRemainder, totalUsableDoses. Inspect any known, defined, inclusion, or boundary flags before interpreting numeric values.
Require nonnegative integer vial and dose counts and positive integer dosesPerVial, with opened+discardedClosed no greater than opening+received and administered+wastedOpen no greater than opened*dosesPerVial. Return closedVials, openDoseRemainder, and totalUsableDoses after recorded consumption and waste.1
| Input field | Meaning and units | Accepted input |
|---|---|---|
| opening | Closed vials at the opening of the modeled period. | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| received | Closed vials received. | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| opened | Vials opened during the period. | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| administered | Doses administered from opened stock. | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| wastedOpen | Doses wasted from opened stock. | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| discardedClosed | Closed vials discarded. | Required. Safe integer; minimum 0. |
| dosesPerVial | Doses Per Vial | Required. Safe integer; minimum 1. |
| Output field | Interpretation | Returned shape |
|---|---|---|
| closedVials | Closed Vials | Required. Safe integer. |
| openDoseRemainder | Open Dose Remainder | Required. Safe integer. |
| totalUsableDoses | Arithmetic remaining-dose balance before any unmodeled storage or expiry exclusions. | Required. Safe integer. |

} Limitations and assumptions
- Opening and received count closed vials; administered and wastedOpen count doses. Remaining open doses are arithmetic credits, not evidence they remain clinically usable under storage or expiry rules.
- The field tables describe structural bounds; the mechanics also state cross-field requirements. Malformed input shapes, disallowed keys, and invalid domains cause input errors. Results must remain finite and within the declared output contract. A successful false flag or zero placeholder is distinct from an error.
- Numeric arithmetic uses binary floating point. Exact comparisons have no hidden tolerance or decimal rounding; negative zero is exported as zero. Decimal-text integer operations retain the exactness specifically stated above.
Alternative or Complementary methods
For immunization stock opened wasted balance, check the source records and the supplied rule before comparing the result with another method. Use an appropriately validated measurement or analysis method for clinical interpretation.
