Dental Cast Expansion Linear Factor Tool

Calculate dental cast expansion linear factor from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Loading tool…

Description

Multiply length by 1+fraction for expansion or divide by that factor when compensate.

Dental laboratory and prosthetic research records distinguish measured dimensions, reference targets, material quantities, and evidence flags. Ratios and residuals depend on those measurement conventions. An idealized bench term or metadata match is separate from fabrication quality and clinical fit or suitability.

Multiply length by 1+fraction for expansion or divide by that factor when compensate.

When to use this tool

Use Dental Cast Expansion Linear Factor when you need the stated laboratory, bench, geometry, or device-record term from already supplied measurements or annotations.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter length, fraction, compensate. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read modelLength, scale. Use the output convention below.

Multiply length by 1+fraction for expansion or divide by that factor when compensate. Return modelLength and scale, requiring nonnegative length and fraction greater than minus one.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Fraction is a decimal linear change, not a percentage numeral. This is a uniform supplied model, not measured expansion, a material prescription, or confirmation of clinical fit.
  • The field tables state structural bounds; the mechanics also specify cross-field constraints. Malformed inputs and unsupported domains cause errors. A successful false flag, empty branch value, or zero placeholder has the meaning stated above and is distinct from an input error.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Signed zero is exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use calibrated measurements and an appropriate complete geometric, material, or laboratory method when the task requires more than one bench term. Clinical suitability requires a separate professional assessment.
