Contact Mask Support Share Tool

Calculate contact mask support share from explicit caller-supplied inputs.

Description

Sum nonnegative cellAreas under contactMask for contactArea and under both contactMask and sourceValid for supportedContactArea, then return their difference as unsupportedContactArea.

Dental laboratory and prosthetic research records distinguish measured dimensions, reference targets, material quantities, and evidence flags. Ratios and residuals depend on those measurement conventions. An idealized bench term or metadata match is separate from fabrication quality and clinical fit or suitability.

Sum nonnegative cellAreas under contactMask for contactArea and under both contactMask and sourceValid for supportedContactArea, then return their difference as unsupportedContactArea.

When to use this tool

Use Contact Mask Support Share when you need the stated laboratory, bench, geometry, or device-record term from already supplied measurements or annotations.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter cellAreas, contactMask, sourceValid. Keep parallel arrays aligned. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read contactArea, supportedContactArea, unsupportedContactArea. Use the output convention below.

Sum nonnegative cellAreas under contactMask for contactArea and under both contactMask and sourceValid for supportedContactArea, then return their difference as unsupportedContactArea. Require aligned arrays.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Support flags are supplied annotations. The function returns areas rather than a support fraction and does not validate contact segmentation, measurement reliability, or clinical fit.
  • The field tables state structural bounds; the mechanics also specify cross-field constraints. Malformed inputs and unsupported domains cause errors. A successful false flag, empty branch value, or zero placeholder has the meaning stated above and is distinct from an input error.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Signed zero is exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Use calibrated measurements and an appropriate complete geometric, material, or laboratory method when the task requires more than one bench term. Clinical suitability requires a separate professional assessment.
