Inclusive Exclusive Tax Ratio Pair

Relate an explicit net amount and supplied net-based tax fraction to gross amount and gross-based tax share without selecting tax law.

Description

Convert a supplied net-tax fraction to gross amount and tax share of gross.

Proportions depend on the order of a ratio, its denominator and whether an input is a decimal fraction or a percentage number. Inverting a zero-crossing interval is undefined, and rounding an ideal share to a quantum can exceed a total. Supplied conservation, tax or mixing assumptions need explicit units and boundaries before interpretation.

Convert a supplied net-tax fraction to gross amount and tax share of gross.

When to use this tool

Use Inclusive Exclusive Tax Ratio Pair when you already have netAmount, suppliedTaxFraction and need to convert a supplied net-tax fraction to gross amount and tax share of gross.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter netAmount, suppliedTaxFraction. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read grossAmount, taxPerGrossFraction, grossToNetRatio. Use the output convention below.

Require taxFraction>-1; return net*(1+fraction), fraction/(1+fraction) and gross/net ratio=1+fraction.1

Input fieldMeaning and unitsAccepted input

Output fieldInterpretationReturned shape
grossAmountGross AmountRequired. Finite number.
taxPerGrossFractionTax Per Gross FractionRequired. Finite number.
grossToNetRatioGross To Net RatioRequired. Finite number.

Limitations and assumptions

  • Signed net amounts and negative fractions above -1 are accepted; the supplied fraction is not a verified tax rate or liability.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Numeric signed-zero results are exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Write the numerator, denominator and ratio direction explicitly before rebasing or inverting a quantity. Use a full allocation or mass balance for multiple components, and account for quantum remainders jointly when rounded shares must add to a fixed total.
