Description

Descriptive supplied oxygen-content extraction and flow product, without a tissue physiology or clinical threshold model.

Physiological models use measured signals, reference levels, rates, and physical balances. A content difference, normalized phase, or energy term depends on its unit system and model assumptions. Supplied coefficients and annotations define the calculation but do not establish biological plausibility or measurement accuracy.

When to use this tool

Use Tissue Oxygen Extraction Ratio Term when you need this explicit signal, content, phase, flow, or physical-balance term under compatible supplied units.

How to use the tool and how it works

  1. Enter arterialContent, venousContent, flow. Use the units and conventions below.
  2. Run the tool. Correct any format, range, or cross-field input error before interpreting the output.
  3. Read difference, extractionFraction, oxygenFlux. Use the output convention below.

Require positive arterialContent and nonnegative venousContent and flow. Return difference=arterialContent-venousContent, extractionFraction=difference/arterialContent, and oxygenFlux=flow*difference.1

Limitations and assumptions

  • Contents need the same oxygen-per-blood-volume basis and flow must use compatible blood-volume units. Venous content above arterial content is allowed, yielding negative terms; no physiological plausibility or clinical interpretation is established.
  • Inputs must satisfy both the field types and the cross-field conditions above. Invalid input causes an error; a successful false flag or documented placeholder is a different result.
  • Numeric calculations use binary floating point unless exact decimal-integer arithmetic is explicitly stated. No hidden measurement tolerance or decimal rounding is added; nonfinite or out-of-contract results are rejected. Signed zero is exported as zero.

Alternative or Complementary methods

Choose a physiological and measurement model suited to the signal or experiment. Verify coefficients, unit conversions, baseline definitions, and sampling support before combining local terms.
